ADCB rebuilds its mobile app around a conversational AI assistant

Customers can check balances, move money and manage cards by voice or text. ADCB says biometrics and AI fraud detection sit underneath.

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank unveiled a new mobile banking app on 11 May 2026, built around an AI-powered conversational virtual assistant (ADCB).

What changes for customers

Instead of navigating menus and forms, customers can use voice or text to check balances, move money, manage cards and services, track goals and explore ADCB’s products. The bank says the underlying models “continue to learn and evolve” with each interaction to personalise the experience.

On security, ADCB says the app combines “enhanced biometric authentication, AI-driven fraud detection, and real-time monitoring to safeguard every interaction.”

“By positioning artificial intelligence at the core of the customer experience, the new, unrivalled mobile banking application enables the delivery of customer recommendations tailored to their daily banking activities…”Pedro Cardoso, Chief Digital Officer, ADCB

ADCB calls the launch a milestone in a transformation strategy announced in 2025 to embed AI across its operating model.

The question the release does not answer

Three months before the launch, the UAE central bank’s AI guidance said customers should be able to request human review of AI-driven decisions and that banks should consider opt-outs where the risk warrants it (CBUAE). ADCB’s release does not say how a customer reaches a person from inside the assistant. That is the detail we want to see next.
